Project Update for Friday, March 1, 2024

Mar 4, 2024

As spring approaches, the backbone fiber buildout continues to make good progress across the entire NELPCO footprint.

The buildout is now over 80% complete, and our take rate among those potential customers who are eligible for the broadband service continues at above the 50% mark.

As of March 1, our customer installation count had exceeded the 3,000 mark, which is quite an accomplishment considering our first connection was made approximately 18 months ago.

We recently opened our fourth feeder in the Oak Grove area, Oak Grove 4, which is now up and ready for service. Construction also continues in the Kilbourne and Chickasaw areas, as well as the Delhi and Holly Ridge areas, and we are targeting this month for some of these sections to be ready for service by mid-April.

In the April/May time frame, it is anticipated that customers in the Darnell, Pioneer and Floyd areas will be ready for service at that time.

In addition, backbone fiber construction continues in the areas around Crowville with service anticipated to become available by June or July.

Construction has also begun in the Fort Necessity area in South Franklin, and make-ready efforts continue there. Also, areas in the Como vicinity are being prepared for fiber construction.

We are very appreciative of your patience as we work to stay on schedule with this project and look forward to providing this service to all our NELPCO members as quickly as possible.

In addition, we are very pleased with the progress that has been made so far in the construction of the Volt Broadband network. With over 80% of the fiber buildout in place and new customers signing up every day, we continue our effort to bring this service to you as quickly as possible.
