Project Update for Friday, December 1, 2023

Dec 1, 2023

Construction continues on the Volt Broadband fiber optic network throughout the NELPCO footprint in northeast Louisiana.

Steady progress is being made on the backbone fiber buildout as the project is now well over the 60% mark of the projected total, with a “take” rate of over 50% of the NELPCO members who have opted in and are taking advantage of this outstanding fiber optic service.

In addition, Volt is approaching the 2,500 customer mark with over 2,250 active members and nearly 300 in the pipeline for turn-up, with more being added each day.

Areas in the NELPCO footprint with build activity are in the Kilbourne and Chickasaw areas, as well as in the Darnell, Pioneer and Holly Ridge communities.

Crews continue their push to get Oak Grove Feeder 1 in operation early this month. This will allow a subscription to Volt Broadband to be added to numerous Christmas lists for Santa and his elves to deliver, just in time for Christmas.

We anticipate this feeder, which is in the Goodwill and Fiske Union north of Highway 2, to open in early December.

The opening of a second Oak Grove feeder should follow quickly on the heels of Feeder 1 and together, the two feeders will open the broadband service up to roughly 1,500 customers in the West Carroll area.

In addition, progress continues in the Holly Ridge area through the Delhi 1 feeder. Construction has spread north of Holly Ridge and to points east of that area.

“Make ready” efforts continue in the Fort Necessity and South Franklin area, as well as the Crowville area as we prepare the way for the fiber construction that should begin in earnest after the first of the year.

With over 60% of the fiber buildout in place and new customers signing up each day, we remain very pleased with the progress that has been made so far. We will continue our efforts to bring this service to you as quickly as possible, and are appreciative of your patience as we work to stay on a schedule that will bring this service to all our NELPCO members as quickly as possible.
