Project Update for Wednesday, February 7, 2024

Feb 7, 2024

We are now well into our second year of the Volt Broadband construction project and the backbone fiber buildout for the fiber optic network continues to make excellent progress throughout the NELPCO footprint.

The construction project is now over 75% complete and our “take rate”, which refers to those eligible NELPCO members who opt-in for the service, continues to be over the 50% mark.

And, despite the weather challenges we faced in January, our current customer count continues to climb as it nears the 2,700 mark as of the first of February.
Early last month, we opened the Oak Grove 2 feeder, and the Oak Grove 3 and 4 feeders are expected to be open by mid-February. This will allow for continued installations in the West Carroll area.

Our initial feeder in Oak Grove opened in December and the response from NELPCO members in that area has been great, and we do appreciate their support and excitement for the project.

Network construction also continues in the Kilbourne and Chickasaw areas with a time frame for service in April. In addition, we expect to be service ready in the Darnell, Pioneer and Holly Ridge areas in the March and April time frame.

Backbone fiber construction continues in the Crowville area. Additionally, “make ready” efforts continue in the Fort Necessity and South Franklin areas, as well as in the Como community preparing the way for fiber construction within the March/April timeframe, if not sooner.

We are very appreciative of your patience as we work to stay on schedule with this project and look forward to providing this service to all our NELPCO members as quickly as possible.

We also remain very pleased with the progress that has been made so far in the construction of the Volt Broadband network. With over 75% of the fiber buildout in place and new customers signing up each day, we continue our efforts to bring this service to you as quickly as possible.
