Project Update for Friday, October 28, 2022

Oct 28, 2022

Construction of the Volt Broadband fiber-to-the-home network continues across the NELPCO territory.

North Feeder 1 in the Log Cabin area toward Beekman should be 100 percent completed by the first of November. Splicing has also begun on that same feeder, and should be completed by late-November.

Splicing is the process when all the fiber in an area is properly installed on the poles and ready for home or business installation. Once splicing is complete in an area, bringing fiber to the individual businesses and residences can begin.

At this time, only pre-registration is open to those on Feeder 1. Once all testing has been completed, Volt customers will receive an email to confirm their service. Potential Volt Broadband customers are also encouraged to continue to sign up on Feeder 3 in the Bonita Road area because fiber-to-the-home service is available to you now. This is also the case for Feeder 4, which runs from Log Cabin south to Bastrop.

Construction is 60% complete in the Baskin 2 area west of US Highway 425 from Mangham to Liddieville. Splicing should begin by mid-November, with a completion date of mid-January. At that point, customers will be scheduled for installation.

In the Baskin 3 area, “make-ready” has commenced, with much of the prep work being completed in the Crowville and Archibald areas. Construction will begin in mid-November on the Baskin 3 feeder east toward Crowville, and from the Franklin Cotton Warehouse area north to Mangham.

Other areas throughout the NELPCO territory are also being readied for construction through pole surveys and other make-ready activities.
